I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Certified Sexologist (ABS), Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200), and have been a psychotherapist in private practice for almost ten years. I have extensive experience as a social worker on Chicago's northside, have taught graduate level counseling courses at DePaul University, and have been a yoga instructor for over 15 years.

I favor an eclectic approach to therapy and draw from various theoretical orientations (including cognitive-behavioral, feminist, Adlerian, existential, and solution-focused therapy) to tailor sessions to the unique needs of each patient. I also incorporate mindfulness, breathing, and meditation into sessions when it is appropriate for dealing with stress, anxiety, and related issues. While I work with the full spectrum of patient concerns, I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, anxiety disorders, stress management, life change/adjustment issues, vocational concerns, and relationship issues. I provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy.

David McDermott, LPC

(he/him)

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and received a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2021. I have experience working with a variety of mental health issues and concerns and have worked in outpatient mental health and private practice.

Therapy is unique due to the nature of the therapeutic relationship formed between clients and therapists. This relationship can help instill a feeling of safety, promote authenticity, call attention to emotions, and inspire hope. It is important to work with a therapist who has experience working with the concerns you are bringing to therapy. I specialize in working with teens and adults with issues surrounding chemical/alcohol dependency, depression, anxiety, relationship/social concerns, stress management, and emotional regulation. I work with individuals, couples, and families.

Every person can benefit greatly from working on their mental health. This will likely look different for everyone. It may involve becoming more confident handling uncomfortable emotions, removing negative narratives that hinder the ability to go after one’s dreams, becoming more intentional with our time, or simply learning to live in the present by using mindfulness practices. If you think we could be a good fit, please email me at dmcdermott57@gmail.com to schedule an appointment.

Adam Jackson, LPC

(he/him)

I am a Southern Illinois native and father of eight amazing children. I lead a very family-centered life and enjoy working with young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, or trauma—especially social or family trauma. I also enjoy working with family and relationship issues, such as boundary issues, difficult life transitions, and emotional abuse. I use an integrative approach to counseling, which is rooted in building a trusting therapeutic relationship that emphasizes empathy and unconditional care. I may also incorporate elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy, existentialism, or draw from other theoretical approaches, depending on the needs and desires of the client.

My hope is to offer clients a new and different perspective and to empower them to attain greater insight. I believe every client possesses the ability to find their own path that leads to meaning, joy, and fulfillment in their life. My ideal client is one who is ready to do the hard work of self-reflection and seize control and responsibility for living their own best life. It is my belief that with proper assistance there is nothing we cannot cope with or overcome and my job as your psychotherapist is to support you on your healing journey. If you think we could be a good fit, please contact me at contactfranzie@gmail.com to schedule an appointment.

Ellen Schreiner, LPC

(she/her)

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and received my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. I also received a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and Literature from Northwestern University. I am a group and organizational dynamics consultant in the Tavistock model and weave systems theory and the role of leadership, gender, and diversity in groups and systems into much of my work.

I believe healing is a holistic process involving nervous system regulation and heart/brain coherence. I provide treatment at the mind/body/spirit level as a dynamic, integrative system. I also utilize other healing modalities, such as Jungian dream analysis, visualization exercises, breath work, energy work, meditation, yoga, and nutrition throughout the therapeutic process, while employing traditional psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches to treatment. Please contact me at eincschreiner@gmail.com if you would like to schedule an appointment!

I have experience working with teens and adults who struggle with addiction, anxiety, depression, mood and personality disorders, trauma-related stress disorders, managing stress and life transitions, and female empowerment. I am also passionate about working with military personnel, veterans, and first responders.

I support clients who are interested in developing inner strength, creating space for mindfulness, finding self-awareness, and building confidence to reach their full potential. We will collaborate on techniques and treatment goals that allow you the freedom to begin the healing process and integrate mind, body, spirit, wellness, and recovery. I work from a client-centered and strength-based approach and utilize holistic and integrated therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy.

I believe each person has a unique imprint in this world. Telehealth sessions not only offer privacy but also eliminate the hassles of commuting.

Beginning a new relationship with a therapist can be challenging. I strive to be personable, approachable, and nonjudgmental, hoping to ease any apprehensions you might have. I encourage you to break past any hesitations and reach out to me via email, at LuisAFigueroaJr@gmail.com. I would love to hear more about you and how I can assist you on your journey.

Amanda Aguilera, LPC

(she/her)

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and graduated from St. Augustine College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. I received my master’s degree from The Institute for Clinical Social Work in the Clinical Counseling and Psychotherapy program. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in sexual abuse, trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety, post-partum depression, racial identity, domestic abuse, LGBTQ+, relationships/ attachment, and other issues.

I offer long-term, psychodynamic therapy and strive to build a therapeutic relationship that is safe, warm, and honest. It is essential to look at past relationships and experiences to work through what is bringing you into therapy now, including relationship issues, difficulty pinpointing or expressing emotions, or experiencing distressing symptoms. Our experiences from the past shape how we view the world, engage with others, and often speak to how we feel about ourselves.

It takes a great amount of courage and insight to begin your therapy journey and I want you to have a sense of autonomy by deciding where you would like to go in sessions and to share at your own pace. I look forward to starting our therapeutic journey together. Feel free to email me at aguileraamanda41@gmail.com with any questions or to schedule an appointment.

Paying for Sessions

Most of our therapists are currently in-network with the following insurance providers: BlueCross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO, United Healthcare/Optum, Aetna, Cigna/Evernorth, Allied, Meritain, and Medicaid. We are out-of-network for and accept most other insurance plans. We also see patients who prefer to pay out-of-pocket. Please contact devin@mindfultherapywellness.com if you have questions about your insurance coverage.

Teletherapy Model

Please note the majority of our practice is based on the teletherapy model and most of our therapists do not offer in-person sessions. Our practice does not offer sliding scale sessions. You must be in the state of Illinois at the time of each session in order to work with our therapists.

No Surprises Act and Good Faith Estimates

The No Surprises Act went into effect on January 1, 2022. Patients who are paying out-of-pocket (not using insurance to pay for services) are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate, which is an estimate of how much they will be charged for the mental health services they will be receiving, prior to their first appointment. Please visit https://www.dol.gov/agencies/ebsa/laws-and-regulations/laws/no-surprises-act for more information about the requirements of the No Surprises Act.
